As we usher in 2026, Harada took to social media to declare, ‘I am no longer a developer/creator of the TEKKEN series,’ signifying a major shift in his career.
In early December 2025, Harada and the team at Bandai Namco revealed that after three decades of dedicated service, he would be leaving the company. His announcement came just as the beloved Tekken franchise was celebrating its milestone 30th anniversary—a moment he felt was perfect for concluding his long-term involvement with the project.
In his heartfelt social media message, Harada simply stated:
‘I’m no longer a developer / creator of the TEKKEN series.
Harada_TEKKEN is completely dead.’
This poignant farewell not only marked the end of an era for Harada but also highlighted his evolution away from his former roles, as he promptly updated his profile to reflect his new status: ‘Former Game Director and Chief Producer of action and fighting games.’
On December 8, he shared his decision with fans worldwide, emphasizing the significance of this transition at such an important juncture in the franchise's history. He expressed gratitude for the years spent working on something that had become a vital part of his life, stating, ‘I felt this was the most fitting moment to bring one chapter to a close.’

Some humorously referenced the series' dramatic plot twists, noting, ‘Heihachi ‘died’ like 4 times. Kazuya came back from a volcano. We know how this works in the Tekken universe.
